Why Lingual Braces?

There are some real good options out there nowadays; but for those who want to hide the fact that they’re undergoing orthodontic treatment, Lingual Braces are the best. These are the most invisible of them all! Lingual braces are strategically placed behind your teeth, so that nothing is seen from the front. You can go ahead smile, floss and brush without a worry. No one will ever know you have braces on.

Lingual Braces – The Procedure

Your orthodontist will first take an impression of your teeth on dental clay, which will be used to create custom brackets. Sophisticated rapid prototyping and CAD/CAM technologies are used to convert your dental impressions to actual braces. You’ll have your brand new braces in about six weeks. Your orthodontist will then cement the braces to your teeth. After this, you will need to visit your orthodontist regularly for monitoring.

From a purely cosmetic perspective, lingual braces are the best option. Here’s why:

  • Complete Anonymity: Even with ceramic braces, you can make out the metal wires connecting the tooth-colored brackets. Not so with lingual braces–in fact, unless someone was to ask you to open your mouth and peer inside, they wouldn’t be able to see your braces.
  • No Worry About Damage: If you’re into sports, especially contact sports of any kind, you don’t have to worry about displacing or breaking your braces. As the braces will be situated at the back of your teeth any impact to your face or jaw will not disturb them in the least.
  • No Embarrassment: You can eat anything you like without worrying that something might get stuck in your front braces and embarrass you. Your braces will be at the back of your teeth, and even if something gets stuck there, you can take care of it in private.
  • Non-intrusive: If you playany wind instrument such as a flute, you can be sure that your braces will not come in the way of your performance.
  • Due to the fact, Incognito Lingual braces are a customized version of lingual braces,it will take on average of 6 weeks to receive your custom braces. Planning ahead will overcome such a dis- advantage.
  • Sometimes the positioning of the braces can make it tough to swallow or talk properly, but this occurs only in some patients, and usually does not last more a week.
